Porto return for Roma defender Ivan Marcano

Spanish defender Ivan Marcano has returned to Portuguese giants Porto following one season at Roma, it has been confirmed.

The 32-year-old played just 13 times for the Giallorossi last season and was absent for Paulo Fonseca’s first training session on Tuesday and has now completed his move.

He made over 150 appearances for the Portuguese club between 2014 and 2018, winning a league title in his final campaign, before moving to the Italian club as a free agent.

Marcano spent four campaigns in the Spanish top-flight across a host of clubs including Racing Santander, Villarreal and Getafe.

The defender was part of Juan Ramón López Caro's squad for the 2009 UEFA European Under-21 Championship in Sweden. He featured in the 2–0 win over Finland, in an eventual group stage exit.
