Thiago Alcantara encourages Ousmane Dembele to Bayern Munich

Thiago Alcantara has urged Bayern Munich to attempt to sign forward Ousmane Dembele from Barcelona this summer.

The 22-year old has endured two campaigns blighted by injury at the Camp Nou and it has been reported that there is growing frustration over his continued fitness issues.

Reports last month indicated Bayern had lodged a bid of €70m for the forward as they attempt to reinforce their attack in wide areas following the departures of Franck Ribery and Arjen Robben.

“Dembele is a great player, I speak as a footballer and as one who has played against him: he is a very good footballer,” former Blaugrana midfielder Thiago is cited as saying by Diario Sport.

“I would like to play with all the great players who want to come to Bayern, however, I am not the sports director who decides whether or not to sign a player.”

The France international netted 14 goals this season but had been restricted to just 20 starts in La Liga and failed to sustain a run of games without further injuries.

It is said that Barca need to sell first-team squad players in order to fund further reinforcements and Dembele’s future had been question in light of the club’s interest in re-signing Neymar from Paris Saint-Germain.
