Joao Felix: I’m here to make my own story

New Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix has rejected comparisons to his Portugal teammate Cristiano Ronaldo: “I want to write my own story.”

The 19-year-old became Atleti’s club record signing when he was transferred from Benfica in a €126m deal earlier this month and he was officially presented at his new club on Monday.

“As we know he is a great player, currently the best in the world and perhaps forever,” Felix said when asked about Ronaldo, as cited by Marca.

“He told me a lot about Madrid, which he liked a lot, but I'm here to make my own story, to be remembered as Joao Felix. He is Cristiano and I am Joao Felix.

“I am very happy to be part of this project and the history of the club, I am here to help as much as possible and so far my teammates have received me very well.

“My price? These are market issues, I do not know anything about this, I just play, I do my job so I can help the club I'm at.”
