Atletico Madrid confirm Alvaro Morata deal for 2020-21 season

Atletico Madrid have confirmed they will sign Chelsea forward Alvaro Morata on a permanent deal at the start of next season.

The Spanish international joined Diego Simeone's side on a 18-month loan contract in January 2019, and the club have moved quickly to turn that deal into a full transfer.

Morata has repeatedly stated his desire to remain in the Spanish capital, after enduring a poor start to his second season at Stamford Bridge, and he has performed well since returning to La Liga.

He netted six goals in 15 league appearances at the back end of the 2018-19, and Simeone confirmed at the end of the campaign that the club was pursuing a potential permanent deal for the former Real Madrid man.

Atletico Madrid have not revealed details of a fee or the length of Morata's contract, given the fact he still has two and a half years to run on his current Chelsea deal, although reports in the Spanish press are claiming it is in the region of €50m.
