Mauricio Pochettino contacts Dani Ceballos over Tottenham move

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has contacted Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos over a move to North London.

The 2018 Champions League finalists are reportedly locked in a battle with Ceballos' former side Real Betis and Serie A giants AC Milan, as they bid to secure a deal for the Spanish international.

The 22-year old made 34 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid in 2018-19, however he has been widely reported to not be in Zinedine Zidane's plans for next season as he bids to raise funds for more transfers.

Ceballos, who won the U21 European Championship title with Spain last week, confirmed after the game that he was determined to play first team football in 2019.

According to reports in Diario AS, Spurs are now leading the race to sign him, after Pochettino personally telephoned the player to sound him out about a move to the club.

Ceballos is expected to be available for around €25m, with Pochettino willing to pay that to partner him with new club record signing Tanguy Ndombele.
