Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette ‘negotiating La Liga move’

Alexandre Lacazette has told Arsenal he wants to leave this summer in order to join an unnamed La Liga club, according to reports.

El Mundo Deportivo cite a report from Yahoo Sport FR which claims the meeting will centre on the France international’s future in North London – and while no team has been named, the striker has previously been linked to Atletico Madrid.

Two summers ago, there was total agreement between the France international, Atletico and Olympique Lyonnais for the transfer but the deal never went through but now the Gunners want to raise funds.

That was the summer where Los Rojiblancos saw their FIFA-imposed transfer ban upheld and the deal subsequently collapsed, with the striker instead joining Arsenal.

Last month, El Mundo Deportivo claimed Le 10 Sport were the first outlet to say that Atleti have now made initial contact with the striker again regarding a possible transfer this summer.

The 28-year-old has started 53 of a possible 76 Premier League matches across two seasons in North London and has netted 36 goals across all competitions, including 19 this campaign.

However, he has slightly fallen from prominence since January 2018 with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang taking the lead of the main striker under Unai Emery.

The French striker has also been linked with a summer move to Barcelona but any talk over his future will be delayed until after his participation in this month’s Europa League final.
