Eintracht Frankfurt admit Ante Rebic close to Atletico Madrid?

Eintracht Frankfurt have admitted forward Ante Rebic may leave the club this summer amid links of a €40m move to Atletico Madrid.

“In the case of Ante, despite the runner-up in the World Cup he stayed with us for another year, so it is possible that now Rebic is looking for a new challenge and wants to take the next step in his career,” Adi Hütter admitted, in quotes cited by Diario AS.

Rebic signed a four-year deal with the German at the start of the 2018-19 campaign after leaving Serie A club Fiorentina, following a season-long loan in Frankfurt in 2017-18.

Diario AS now cite a report from Sky in Austria that the player who netted 10 goals and provided six assists last season is closing in on a move to Los Rojiblancos.

He has impressed in his first full season at the club, forming an excellent partnership with Luka Jovic – who has since joined Real Madrid – with interest also coming in from Inter.

Atleti are continuing to reinvest in their squad ahead of the new campaign and have already confirmed deals for Marcos Llorente, Felipe Monteiro and Renan Lodi.

Croatian international Rebic has previously had loan spells at RB Leipzig and Hellas Verona but it has been at Frankfurt where he has emerged as a genuine in-demand talent.
