Dani Ceballos denies talks with Sevilla

Real Madrid midfielder Dani Ceballos has denied he has agreed to join Sevilla despite returning to the city for his holidays.

It followed directly comments from Sevilla sporting director Monchi that there had been ‘no contract’ between the Andalusian club and the Spain Under-21 international.

“I like Lopetegui, he is a great Coach,” Ceballos is cited as saying as ABC de Sevilla.

“Interest from Sevilla and Monchi? I do not know, I do not know…I have nothing to say. I have not talked with him. I have said that I want to play 40 games on any team, because it is very important.

“It seems that I signed for Sevilla and it is not like that. I have nothing to say about that. My team is Real Madrid, I have four years of contract and I have nothing with Sevilla.

“The most important thing is that I want a very important path in Real Madrid.”

Ceballos joined Madrid from Real Betis for €16m in 2017 but has started just 17 times in La Liga and just twice in the Champions League and has often appeared to be a fringe figure.

The Spain international started and scored in March’s 3-2 victory over Huesca – his first home goal for the club – but was selected just once more in the 10 matches since.

Madrid have spent over €300m on five new signings this summer but so far have only sold Marcos Llorente and have a hugely bloated 36-man first-team squad.
