Sevilla confirm signing of Luuk de Jong from PSV Eindhoven

Sevilla have completed the signing of striker Luuk de Jong from PSV Eindhoven on a four-year contract, the club have confirmed.

The 28-year-old netted 32 goals for the Dutch club last season and multiple reports claim that the transfer is worth €12.5m.

De Jong has netted 94 goals in the Eredivisie – the top-flight in the Netherlands – and his prolific nature is said to have attracted the attention of Los Rojiblancos.

However, he has endured underwhelming stints in England and Germany – with Newcastle United and Borussia Monchengladbach respectively – and now wants to prove himself outside of the Eredivisie.

The Netherlands international now looks set to be part of a renovation of Sevilla’s attacking ranks this summer, with Israeli striker Munas Dabbur already signed from RB Leipzig.

Such links are set to intensify the rumours that star striker Wissam Ben Yedder – whose contract contains a €40m release clause – could be exiting the club this summer.

De Jong and Dabbur are two of the four summer signings at the club, with defender Diego Carlos and Eibar midfielder Joan Jordan also arriving.
