Barcelona’s Denis Suarez to join Celta Vigo

Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez will complete his move to Celta Vigo on Sunday, according to a multitude of reports in Spain.

On Saturday, Catalan radio station RAC1 detail how Denis will join the Galician club rather than Valencia in a deal worth €15m and put pen to paper on a five-year contract.

It follows reports which claimed that the player had been offered a higher salary by Celta although his previous desire was to be reunited with Coach Marcelino Garcia Toral at the Mestalla.

Now Marca report that the deal should be confirm by Sunday, with Barca hopeful of finalising the sale ahead of the start of July.

Denis – who worked under current Valencia boss Marcelino at Villarreal – was loaned to Arsenal in January but endured an underwhelming stint in North London which was undermined by injuries and a failure to settle in the British capital.

However, his future ‘has undergone a significant change’ since Thursday and Valencia’s negotiations drifting further apart and creating the opening for Celta to pounce for the player.

Los Che have already signed goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from Barcelona and their reported additions of Rafinha Alcantara and Denis Cheryshev have meant sufficient funds were not directed towards Suarez’s wages.

It is said that the player will now return to the club where he began his career eight years ago before joining Manchester City.
