Barcelona want Milan defender Ricardo Rodriguez

Barcelona are hopeful of signing Milan defender Ricardo Rodriguez this summer to add competition for their left-back slot, say Diario Sport.

The Catalan club are hopeful the Swiss international will add competition to long-standing number one full-back Jordi Alba at the Camp Nou.

The Rossoneri are said to be open to selling the left-back as they look to tie up the permanent signing of Theo Hernandez from Real Madrid in a €20m move.

Rodriguez turns 27 in August and was bought from VfL Wolfsburg in 2017 for €15m, and he would primarily act as a back-up within Ernesto Valverde’s squad.

The full-back provided four assists in 41 competitive appearances for the Milanese giants this season, but it is thought the club are now open to a sale.

It is said that ‘next week will be decisive’ in the operation and could herald the exit, temporarily or otherwise, of young full-back Juan Miranda.

The Blaugrana have allowed Marc Cucurella to join Eibar this summer – although they do possess a buyback option – while Lucas Digne left last year for Everton.
