Sevilla agree deal for PSV striker Luuk de Jong

Sevilla are close to completing the signing of PSV Eindhoven striker Luuk De Jong, according to multiple reports.

The 28-year-old netted 32 goals for the Dutch club last season and Mexican outlet Record led the reports on Thursday which stated how he is close to joining the Andalusian team.

Now both Marca and Cadena Cope have furthered the reports and say that a deal worth €12.5m will be agreed on a four-year contract.

De Jong has netted 94 goals in the Eredivisie – the top-flight in the Netherlands – and his prolific nature is said to have attracted the attention of Los Rojiblancos.

The Netherlands international now looks set to be part of a renovation of Sevilla’s attacking ranks this summer, with Israeli striker Munas Dabbur already signed from RB Leipzig.

Such links are set to intensify the rumours that star striker Wissam Ben Yedder – whose contract contains a €40m release clause – could be exiting the club this summer.

The 28-year-old has recently told reporters that he will consider a transfer this summer while Diario AS cited a report from Soccerlink.fr that there has already been contact from Paris Saint-Germain.

ABC de Sevilla now cites a report in France Football outlining United’s intention of landing the striker, who would theoretically replace Romelu Lukaku – who is in talks to join Italian club Inter.

The report adds that Ben Yedder “is very much to the liking of the current Manchester United coach Ole Solskjaer” and he would represent a value replacement for the Belgian.

The striker joined Los Rojiblancos from Toulouse in 2016 in a €9m deal and has scored 70 goals across all competitions in the time since.

Ben Yedder netted twice in Sevilla’s famous Champions League Round of 16 victory against Manchester United a season ago – to qualify the club for their first quarter-final of the competition in six decades.
