Diego Simeone spoke with Joao Felix – father

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has already spoken to Benfica teenage star Joao Felix, the player’s father has revealed.

Whilst a move to Los Rojiblancos appears to be imminent, the reported €126m offer from the club appears to have been submitted in installments rather than upfront – so his €120m release clause has not yet been triggered.

“My son has already spoken with Simeone…I do not know about what, because he did not tell me that,” Carlos Sequeira told Spanish TV, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.

“Atletico are one of the strong possibilities. In the next weeks everything will be solved. Now we're going to spend a few days on holiday, at least until the weekend. If you go to Atletico, it's a great club…

“He always takes everything seriously. It is in his character. It was like that when he was 10 years old. It has not changed and I hope it does not ever.”

Atleti are willing to trigger the 19-year-old’s clause in a deal which will eclipse their previous club record – the capture of winger Thomas Lemar from Monaco, a move which cost a potential €72m.
