Real Madrid defender Theo Hernandez close to Milan

Real Madrid defender Theo Hernandez is close to agreeing a move to Milan this summer, according to a report in Marca.

It is said that Madrid prefer the full-back to exit either on a two-year loan deal or on a permanent deal with a repurchase option.

Theo was signed by Madrid from city rivals Atletico in the summer of 2017 in a landmark deal worth a reported €30m but his career has stalled since.

He started just ten La Liga matches in his first season with Los Blancos and failed to dislodge long-standing first-choice left-back Marcelo at the club.

The fresh report claims that Madrid will look to recoup the fee they played for the player, while Marcelo’s future is safe at the club following the return of boss Zinedine Zidane.

He was subsequently loaned to La Real this season but once again has struggled, featuring in just 24 league games this season and recently being left out of matchday squads entirely.

Napoli were previously reported to be keen on the player with boss Carlo Ancelotti a particular admirer, while it is pointed out that Theo also shares the same agent as Napoli forward Jose Callejon.

Bayer Leverkusen have also been linked with a move to the defender.
