Ajax to sign Sevilla forward Quincy Promes

Ajax are set to confirm a deal to sign Dutch international forward Quincy Promes from Sevilla, according to report.

El Correo de Andalucia cite a report in De Telegraaf which claims the player is set to pen a five-year contract in Amsterdam.

Promes only joined Los Rojiblancos last summer from Spartak Moscow in a €20m deal and he has four years remaining on his contract.

However, his performances have not quite lived up to the reputation – scoring three goals and providing nine assists in 49 appearances for the club.

The 27-year-old had starred for the Russian club before moving to Spain, having previously risen to prominence at FC Twente in the Netherlands.

Equally adept at playing as a winger or a forward, Promes – who is of Surinamese descent – has netted seven goals in 37 international caps for the Netherlands.

He would be the latest attacking player to exit Sevilla after Luis Muriel joined Atalanta in a deal worth an initial €15m last week, as the club undergoes a summer revamp.
