Benfica close in on Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas

Benfica are confident of completing the signing of Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas, according to various reports.

The Portuguese giants are close to the signing of Madrid striker Raul de Tomas, while club president Luis Filipe Vieira is said to be using his trip to the Spanish capital to finalise a deal for the shot-stopper.

The Costa Rican has been behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order for the majority of the season while Luca Zidane, son of Zinedine, has also been selected ahead of the Costa Rican.

Diario AS cite a report in A Bola which claims that Navas looks set to follow de Tomas to Lisbon with the biggest stumbling block said to be the goalkeeper’s wage demands.

The 32-year-old started just 11 La Liga matches this campaign although seven of them arrived since Zinedine Zidane returned in March.

However, multiple reports have suggested that the experienced goalkeeper has been told he is not part of Madrid’s plans next season.

The Portuguese giants had been linked with a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen although this now appears unlikely as he appears set to instead join Valencia.

Navas joined Madrid from Levante in the summer of 2014 and has won three Champions League titles with the club.
