Roma chase Real Betis defender Marc Bartra

Italian club Roma are interested in a deal for Real Betis defender Marc Bartra but may have to pay up to €25m, according to reports.

The 28-year-old joined Los Verdiblancos in January 2018 from Borussia Dortmund in a €10m deal and now has a €60m release clause in his contract.

Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio now claims the Italian capital club are pursuing a possible deal for the experienced central defender.

Bartra enjoyed a resurgence in form at Betis and last year had been recalled to the Spanish national squad, although he struggled for Los Verdiblancos moreso in his first full campaign.

He apparently ticks the boxes of what Roma are looking for in the transfer market with his experience at club and international level.

It is said that the Giallorossi are ‘thinking about’ a deal for the former Barcelona player which follows on from reports by the same outlet that the club are considering an approach for Betis goalkeeper Pau Lopez.

However, for both deals it appears that the Seville-based club hold the power in negotiations and are under little obligation to sell unless attractive offers come in.
