Former Sevilla midfielder Stephane Mbia set for La Liga return

Former Sevilla defender Stephane Mbia could be in line for a return to La Liga this summer, despite agreeing a return to China.

The Cameroonian international left the Ramon Sanchez Pizjaun in 2015 for a brief spell with Turkish side Trabzonspor, before spending two seasons with Hebei China Fortune.

After his release from the Chinese Super League side, he signed a short term deal with Ligue 1 side Toulouse at the start of the 2018-19 campaign. However he was released from his deal and signed a one-year deal to go back to China, and play for Wuhan Zall.

However reports in French newspaper L'Equipe claim that he wants to return to Europe, to be closer to his family, despite having six months to run on his deal with Wuhan Zall.

The reports claim that La Liga pair Espanyol and Getafe are both interested in bringing him in a short term deal to add some experience ahead of their Europa League campaigns in 2019-20.

However, they face reported competition from Turkey, with Besiktas and Galatasary also linked with the 33-year old, and they can both offer a higher wage than the two Spanish sides.
