Juventus to make late bid for FC Barcelona target Matthijs De Ligt

Serie A champions Juventus could make a late bid for FC Barcelona transfer target Matthijs De Ligt.

The 19-year old centre back has become one of the hottest prospects in European football, after an outstanding season with Dutch champions Ajax – however he has confirmed that he is likely to leave the Johan Cruyff Arena.

FC Barcelona had looked to be the front runners to sign him, after expressing an interest in him after completing a deal for team mate Frenkie De Jong in January 2019.

However that move has since stalled, with Premier League side Manchester United and Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain both entering the race to sign him.

According to reports in Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport, the Serie A mega-club could make a late move for De Ligt, with a reported meeting between club director Pavel Nedved and De Ligt's agent Mino Raiola already set up.

De Ligt confirm he will make decision on his future when he returns from holiday later this month, but he also stated that Cristiano Ronaldo encouraged him to move to Turin during the Netherlands Euro Nations final defeat to Ronaldo's Portugal.
