Sergio Garcia leaves Espanyol

Sergio Garcia has left Espanyol after his contract expired at the end of the 2018-19 La Liga season.

The veteran forward returned to the Catalan side, after making 145 appearances at the Catalan club between 2010 and 2015, in 2017, signing a one-year deal after his release from Qatari side Al-Rayyan.

He renewed for another year at the start of the 2018-19 campaign, with former Rubi keen to retain his experience in the squad, as they ended the season in the Europa League qualification spots.

However new boss David Gallego has confirmed that he has allowed the 36-year old has now left the club, as they look to prepare for an early start to the season due to their European qualification.

Espanyol are yet to confirm any incomings for 2019-20 as yet, however goal keeper Roberto has already moved to Premier League side West Ham, and defender Mario Hermoso is set to move on to Atletico Madrid.
