Real Madrid quartet nominated for Golden Boy Award

Real Madrid have four players nominated for the Tuttosport Golden Boy Award in 2019.

Vincius Junior – who enjoyed an excellent first season at the Santiago Bernabeu – Brahim Diaz, FIFA U20 World Cup winner Andriy Lunin and new signing Rodrygo have all received a mention in the candidates for the prestigious award.

The Italian newspaper has been giving out the award for the outstanding U21 player playing in Europe, since 2003, with major names including Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi, Cesc Fabregas, Sergio Aguero, Isco, Raheem Sterling and Kylian Mbappe all winning it.

Ajax defender, and summer transfer target, Matthijs De Ligt won the award in 2018, and a La Liga winner would be the first one since Real Madrid's Isco back in 2013.

FC Barcelona have three players including in the list, including new signing Frenkie De Jong, Riqui Puig and reserve team goal keeper Lazar Carevic in th running to win it.

Other La Liga names include, new Real Sociedad signing Alexander Isak, Real Betis' Diego Lainez, Valencia's Kang-in Lee and Atletico Madrid teenager Nehuen Perez.
