Real Madrid’s first-team squad increases to 37 players

Real Madrid now have an astonishing 37 first-team squad players following the signings of Eden Hazard and Ferland Mendy, as Marca outline.

Madrid have spent over €300m in player transfers this summer with Hazard and Mendy following on from the arrivals of Luka Jovic, Rodrygo Goes and Eder Militao.

The report claims the club are actively looking to allow 10 players to leave the club: Keylor Navas, Theo Hernandez, Sergio Reguilon, Marcos Llorente, Dani Ceballos, James Rodriguez, Martin Odegaard, Mateo Kovacic, Gareth Bale, Raul de Tomas and Borja Mayoral.

In addition to the 10 players who ‘appear certain to leave’ include a further seven names ‘who have unclear futures’: Andriy Lunin, Luca Zidane, Jesus Vallejo, Brahim Diaz, Isco, Lucas Vazquez and Mariano Diaz.

Madrid’s bloated squad is a result of five signings and no departures this summer alongside the return of multiple loan players.

Los Blancos have also been linked with summer moves for Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba and Tottenham’s Christian Eriksen but the focus now appears to be a on a fire-sale.
