Antoine Griezmann confirms future decision is close

Atletico Madrid striker Antoine Griezmann has confirmed that his future will be decided in the next two weeks.

The French international confirmed at the back end of the 2018-19 season that he intended to leave the Wanda Metropolitano this summer – a dramatic turnaround for the 28-year old who signed a long term deal less than 12 months before.

FC Barcelona are widely tipped to be his new destination, after being frustrated in their attempts to sign him before the 2018 World Cup.

"I understand that people want to know my future, but for now I ask for patience, he told reporters following France's 4-0 Euro 2020 qualification win over Andorra.

"i want my future to be decided also, but there is a need to wait.

"Maybe in two weeks time we will know more."

Griezmann's release clause with Atletico drops from €200m to €120m on July 1, and it is from there that La Balugrana are expected to make their move.

However, despite widespread reports claiming that a deal for the former Real Sociedad forward to head to the Camp Nou is virtually complete, Griezmann also indicated that it is not certain that he will remain in Spain – fuelling rumours of a late bid from Ligue 1 champions PSG.
