FC Barcelona star Philippe Coutinho unhappy with performances in 2018-19

FC Barcelona midfielder Philippe Coutinho has revealed his disappointment at his own performances in the 2018-29 campaign.

The Brazilian international suffered the wrath of the Camp Nou crowd on more than one occasion during his first full season at the club, with supporters whistling him as he was substituted during at least three home games.

However, the former Liverpool play maker has acknowledged that his performances have been below par, and is determined to improve for the season ahead.

"I have not had a good season, he told an interview with Marca.

"My performances have been a lot worse than I expected them to be.

"But the only way to improve and gain confidence is to work hard, and that is exactly what I am doing."

Coutinho, who signed from the Champions League winners back in January 2017, for a €159m fee has struggled to live up to the hype surrounding his move – with with just 13 La Liga goals in 51 appearances.

He has been linked with a potential summer exit, with Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain reported to be keen, but the likelihood is that he will stay and fight for his place at the Camp Nou.
