Fenerbahce interested in Real Madrid forward Mariano Diaz

Turkish side Fenerbahce are eyeing up a move for Real Madrid's Mariano Diaz, according to reports in the country.

National newspaper Fanatik claim the Super Lig side are interested in bringing the 25-year old attacker to Turkey, after his future at the Santiago Bernabeu was thrown into doubt following Zinedine Zidane's transfer overhaul.

The arrivals of Eden Hazard and Luka Jovic, are likely to push Mariano even further down the pecking order at the club, despite a positive end to the 2018-19 season with Los Blancos.

Real Madrid exercised their buy-back option on the Dominican Republic international in June 2018, after he scored 21 goals in his debut season with Ligue 1 side Lyon, paying €21.5m to bring him back.

However, despite spending an estimated €13.5m more than they initially sold him for, Mariano's return to the Spanish capital never really materialised, with injuries and managerial upheaval disrupting his progress.

Zidane has confirmed that players will leave the club in the coming weeks, as he looks to continue to be active in the transfer market, and Mariano is one of those widely tipped to be on his way out.
