Edinson Cavani to swap PSG for Atletico Madrid

Atletico Madrid are prioritising a summer deal for Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani, according to a report in Cadena Cope.

Cavani’s contract in the French capital expires next summer and he has scored 193 goals across six seasons at the French giants.

The Uruguayan international is said to be open to a move to Madrid while Antoine Griezmann has already confirmed his departure from the club, with Diego Costa also linked to a summer exit.

Last month, El Mundo Deportivo cited a report on Spanish radio station Cadena Ser that the striker will definitely join Atleti should Costa depart.

Costa has been linked with a summer move to a club from the Chinese Super League while there have been reports of a fallout with the hierarchy of Atleti.

The Spain international refused to train with his Atletico Madrid teammates once in April after the club opened misconduct proceedings into his red card at Barcelona.

That dismissal led to the former Chelsea striker missing the final eight matches of the season and leading to speculation that he had played his last competitive game for the club.

Lucas Hernandez, Diego Godin, Juanfran Torres and Griezmann have already confirmed their departures from Los Rojiblancos this summer.
