PSG ‘double Barcelona offer’ for Matthijs de Ligt

Paris Saint-Germain have offered Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt double the wages that was on the table from Barcelona, write Diario Sport.

The report claims the Parisians have offered the defender a €15m annual salary while the Blaugrana’s wage offer stood between €7m and €8m per year.

The 19-year-old has been the captain of the Amsterdam-based club for over a year and has starred for club and country.

Widely regarded as one of the best upcoming talents in world football, the central defender is set to command a fee of up to €90m from Ajax.

The return of Leonardo to the position of sporting director at PSG is said to be vital, he has replaced Antero Henrique and is said to hold an excellent relationship with de Ligt’s agent Mino Raiola.

The Parisians are reportedly willing to pay an upfront fee of €80m for the defender plus a further €10m in add-ons, with Barca unable to go above their €75m position.

De Ligt starred in his side’s run to the Champions League semi-finals, heading in the winner in the quarter-finals at Juventus before also netting in the last four against Tottenham.
