Jesus Vallejo: I want Real Madrid stay

Real Madrid defender Jesus Vallejo insists he wants to fight for a first-team spot and has no intentions of leaving the club.

The 22-year-old played just seven times this season and just four starts in La Liga with youth graduate Javi Sanchez preferred even with the club’s injury crisis.

“I want to stay, I am happy, I want to give my best and progress and I can learn from being at the side of the many good players here,” Vallejo explained to Diario AS.

“A move away? I have not considered it, the season is almost over, we have this challenge, the Coach is happy with my work, happy that we will continue and we will continue talking.

“You always want to play and the important thing is to be available, the season is long, I feel good, and thanks to those games I played I feel a part of this squad.

“Luka Jovic? I did not play with Jovic in my year at Eintracht, he is a born goalscorer and he is sure to help us.”

Vallejo was brought into the first-team squad at Madrid last season and has made a total of 15 appearances following a previous loan stints at Real Zaragoza and Eintracht Frankfurt.

However, the arrival of €50m central defender Eder Militao from FC Porto has clouded his future.
