Rodrygo Goes’ next club game will be for Real Madrid

Future Real Madrid forward Rodrygo Goes has played his last game for Santos due to a ruling by the Brazilian FA, detail Diario AS.

The 18-year-old has starred with Santos in his native Brazil but is due to join Madrid this year after the two club’s struck a €45m deal in 2018.

It had been unclear if the forward would return to club duty after international duty with both Santos and the Brazilian FA at loggerheads of whether the forward was obliged to join his national teammates.

Rodrygo is set to join Madrid’s pre-season tour on 8 July but this latest controversial ruling has seen him play his final club game for Santos.

Last month, Rodrygo told Fox Sports, in quotes carried by Diario AS, how the situation was taking its toll on him: “The agreement came out on Sunday morning after a bad night for me.

“I was throwing up and I had a very sore throat. I think it was anxiety about whether or not still be here but thank God I will be – He is great.

“My will was to stay, it was my decision, along with my sponsor and my family, I wanted to take more advantage of that time I had here.”
