Real Madrid confirm signing of striker Luka Jovic from Eintracht Frankfurt

Real Madrid have completed the signing of in-demand Eintracht Frankfurt striker Luka Jovic for an undisclosed fee, the club have confirmed.

Los Blancos have confirmed the Serbian international has penned a six-year contract at the club and whilst no fee is mentioned, it is thought to be in the region of €60m – as reported by Diario AS and El Mundo Deportivo.

The striker netted 17 goals in 25 Bundesliga starts this season, more than anyone else in the division apart from Robert Lewandowski, while he also netted 10 goals in the Europa League this campaign.

Frankfurt signed the striker permanently from Benfica in an €8m deal last month but have now sold him to Madrid for a sizable profit, although Benfica are entitled to 30% of any sale.

The Madrid club website describes the striker as “powerful, a technical footballer and a great finisher”, while he appears likely to take the goalscoring mantle at the club from Karim Benzema.

Jovic is the first official Madrid signing of the summer while Lyon full-back Ferland Mendy and Chelsea playmaker Eden Hazard are expected to follow.

Bayern Munich, Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain have also previously been linked to a deal.
