Benfica hopeful on Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas

Benfica have emerged as strong contenders to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Keylor Navas this summer, report Diario AS.

The Costa Rican has been behind Thibaut Courtois in the pecking order for the majority of the season while Luca Zidane, son of Zinedine, has also been selected ahead of the Costa Rican.

The 32-year-old started just 1- La Liga matches this campaign although seven of them have arrived since Zinedine Zidane returned in March.

However, multiple reports have suggested that the experienced goalkeeper has been told he is not part of Madrid’s plans next season.

It has been suggested that Benfica’s teenage star Joao Felix is the subject of interest interest from Los Blancos and the transfer of Navas could help sweeten any such deal.

The Portuguese giants had been linked with a move for Barcelona goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen although this now appears unlikely as the Blaugrana will not reduce their asking price for the Dutchman.

Navas joined Madrid from Levante in the summer of 2014 and has won three Champions League titles with the club.
