Antoine Griezmann ‘not a priority’ for Barcelona

Barcelona are not prioritising the signing of Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann this summer and have other options, write Marca.

The report claims that Blaugrana president Josep Maria Bartomeu has ‘put the signing in the fridge’ and the club do not have a great level of interest in chasing a deal.

The 28-year-old confirmed earlier this month that he was leaving Los Rojiblancos this summer and is now heavily linked with both Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain.

However, a move to the Parisians also appears unlikely due to the financial cost involved in any such deal and their need to cut costs to meet UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations.

The fresh report claims that despite Griezmann’s release clause falling from €200m to €120m in July, that cost alongside a likely wage of €17m per season would mean the Catalan giants are unlikely to go for the deal.

In addition to this, the report adds that neither Barcelona’s players nor fans have forgiven the Frenchman for rejecting the club last season in order to renew with Atleti.
