Gerard Pique’s FC Andorra promoted to Spanish Third Division

FC Andorra, the principality club owned by FC Barcelona defender Gerard Pique, have been promoted to the Spanish third tier.

Pique's investment company Kosmos Holding Group purchased a controlling stake in the club back in December 2018, and they have now returned to the Tercera Division for the first time since 2002.

The group oversaw a number of investments into the club inside the first two months of ownership, including improving the club's training facilities and more funds for wages.

The club, which is managed by former FC Barcelona player Gabri Garcia won their final game of the 2018-19 season, at home to UD Viladecans to secure top spot in the Catalan First Division and promotion.

They will be competing with the likes of Vilafranca for the chance to be promoted into the Spanish Segunda B Division for the 2020-21 campaign.

Pique was due to attend the promotion party on Saturday night, however following La Blaugrana's defeat in the Copa del Rey final, he opted not to appear publicly, instead sending a private message of congratulations to Gabri and his players.
