West Ham enter race to sign Andre Gomes

West Ham are set to battle with Premier League rivals Everton to sign FC Barcelona midfielder Andre Gomes, according to UK newspaper The Times.

Gomes, who has been on loan at Goodison Park this season from the La Liga winners, has been linked with a permanent move to Marco Silva's side this summer, however nothing has been confirmed.

Ernesto Valverde is willing to let the Portuguese international leave the Camp Nou, as he looks to make changes this summer, but Gomes will want to assess his option before making a decision.

The Toffees are still the front runners to sign the former Valencia CF man, who has been regularly quoted as saying how much he is enjoying life on loan with the club, but he is yet to put pen to paper.

Manuel Pellegrini's side are also on willing to offer €18m at this stage, with Everton bidding over €20m to shore up the deal.

Tottenham are also rumoured to be keen on bringing Gomes to North London, and the lure of Champions League football could be a decisive factor for 25-year old.
