Celta Vigo keen on Girona’s Portu

Celta Vigo are set to raid relegated Girona for striker Portu according to reports in Catalan newspaper Diario Sport this weekend.

Fran Escriba's side avoided a last day relegation battle, with the Catalan side slipping through the trap door into the second tier instead, and now they look set to take further advantage of the situation.

Portu has been with Girona for three seasons, and he played a key role for them in 2018-19, finishing the season as their second highest scorer, with nine goals in La Liga.

Girona are expecting interest in Portu, and Cristhian Stuani, in the coming weeks as top flight sides look to pick up a bargain from the relegated side, and they will try and hold out for the best deal possible.

The Galician side will be looking to get a deal tied up as soon as possible, before their La Liga rivals become aware of Girona's willingness to sell their star assets as they prepare for life in the Segunda Division.

Portu is contracted to the club until 2022, and Girona could push for a fee of €8m from any interested parties.
