FC Barcleona Club President Josep Bartomeu has once again moved to back manager Ernesto Valverde.
The 56-year old has spoken out after the Catalan side lost in their Copa del Rey final clash with Valencia CF this weekend, ending their chances of back to back domestic doubles.
However despite the defeat, Bartomeu refused to blame the former Athletic Bilbao coach.
"This defeat was not the fault of the coach.
"We had many chances to win the game, but the ball just would not go in the net.
"I would say that the season has been very good, without being excellent.
"We have los a few key games here in Spain and at Anfield, and that has cost us two titles."
Bartomeu was also pushed on the future of Valverde at the club, after he gave him his full backing following the Champions League exit against Liverpool.
"Valverde has a contract here and he is the coach of the team.
"However, now is not the time to speak about these things, but we are planning for next season."
