Douglas Pereira set to end five-year Barcelona stay

Defender Douglas Pereira is set to leave Barcelona after five years and just three starts, according to a report in Diario Sport.

The Brazilian is out of contract at the Camp Nou this summer and Turkish club Sivasspor, where he spent the past season on loan, are keen to sign him on a free transfer.

The report claims there is also interest in the right-back by Istanbul giants Galatasaray as his future appears to lie in Turkey.

“I still have a contract with Sivasspor, I have a lot of respect for the people here, I have friends, the president and the vice president,” Douglas is cited as saying.

“When the time comes, it will be time to consider the future, but I'm still a Sivasspor footballer and I'm waiting for the league to end here.

“I have received several proposals, it is not a lie, but not only from Turkey – I have also heard from Japan and Italy.

“As I said before, I will never make plans for the future before the end of the season, I will start the holidays, I will talk with my family and I hope to take the best decision.”

Douglas has previously spent time on loan at both Sporting Gijon and Benfica, but failed to make a notable impact at either club.

The 28-year-old joined Barca from Sao Paulo in a €1.5m deal in 2014 but started only one La Liga match.
