Jose Bordalas: I’m staying at Getafe

Getafe boss Jose Bordalas and club president Angel Martin insist the Coach will remain at Los Azulones for next season.

Bordalas guided the minnows to a fifth-place finish in La Liga, narrowly missing out on a Champions League spot, and was named UEFA.com Coach of the season for the league.

“There is no reason to think anything other than I’ll continue here,” Bordalas responded, as cited by Marca, when asked about his future.

“I have to keep repeating myself, but I have a contract with Getafe and I want to continue with Getafe.

“Djene Dakonam’s future? He is happy at Getafe, he is comfortable and recently he even bought a house here.

“He will not leave the club unless a club pays his release clause (€35m).”

President Martin added, as cited by Cadena Cope: “Our Coach is Bordalas and we are planning together for next season, we have already spoken about potential players and dates for pre-season.”

Bordalas guided Alaves to promotion in 2016 but was subsequently dismissed and repeated the feat with Getafe, before continuing his progress at the Madrid-based club over the following two campaigns.

Bordalas has been linked with the vacant managerial roles at Real Betis and Sevilla.
