Thorgan Hazard confirms Borussia Dortmund move

Borussia Dortmund have completed the signing of Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Thorgan Hazard – a reported target of Atletico Madrid.

The Belgian international, brother of Chelsea playmaker Eden, has joined Dortmund on a five-year contact a year ahead of his deal at Monchengladbach expiring.

Thorgan had been strongly linked to Atletico alongside both Valencia and Sevilla but it has now been confirmed that he will be staying in the Bundesliga.

A report in Sport Bild back in March claimed the Belgian was hopeful on a summer move to Los Rojiblancos, who will need several reinforcements this summer.

A host of defenders are leaving Diego Simeone’s side alongside star forward Antoine Griezmann, while Rodri and Thomas Partey have been among those linked with moves away.

That report claimed that the idea was for Thorgan and Eden to be lining up on rival sides of the Madrid derby next season, with Eden strongly linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Whilst his brother may yet end up in Madrid, Thorgan will be remaining in the Bundesliga next season.
