Atletico Madrid move for Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier

Atletico Madrid want to include Tottenham Hotspur full-back Kieran Trippier as part of their summer defensive rebuild, according to reports.

Our sister site Football Italia cite a report from Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli that Los Rojiblancos are willing to trump Napoli in their attempts to sign the England international.

The 28-year-old’s form at Spurs has stagnated this season and the club are said to be open to a sale which will allow them to reinvest in their squad.

The former Burnley defender helped his nation to last year’s World Cup semi-final while he has also helped Spurs reach the last four of this season’s Champions League.

A host of defenders are leaving Atleti this summer – the departures of Lucas Hernandez, Diego Godin and Juanfran Torres have all been confirmed.

Meanwhile Filipe Luis is also set to depart at the end of his contract while full-back Santiago Arias has also been linked to a summer departure.

A variety of reports have linked Trippier with a summer move to Napoli from North London.
