Toni Kroos: New Real Madrid deal shows Zinedine Zidane faith

Toni Kroos has reiterated how his contract renewal at Real Madrid is further proof that he holds the trust of Coach Zinedine Zidane.

The German international has penned a new contract at Los Blancos until 2023 to end speculation that he would leave the club this summer.

“If there were doubts about my future, we would not be here today,” Kroos told reporters, as cited by Marca.

“A month ago Diario AS reported that I wanted to leave, but I always wanted to stay. Today is confirmation of that, because I never had any doubts about it.

“I cannot tell you what Zidane has said to me, because that conversation was between us, but if he had doubts then today would not be happening.

“He knows me very well, where I play, because for 90% of the games under him I have played just to the left as a number eight, which is the perfect position for me.

“I am not here to score goals or win balls back, my aim is to help the team win using my style and keeping possession, spreading the play and giving good passes.

“Nobody was up to the level this season that we should have been but next season we will be motivated because the entire club needs to improve.

“But today is very happy for me, I have had many success at Real Madrid and now there are four more years of that to come.

“It is a special day for me because the relationship I have with this club is really special since the first day I came here in 2014.”
