Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone is ‘thankful’ for Antoine Griezmann’s service at the club: “I cannot judge anyone by their decisions.”
The French forward has confirmed he will leave Los Rojiblancos this summer after five seasons at the club, with Barcelona rumoured to be his likely destination.
“First of all, I am thankful to Antoine and the wonderful five years that he has given us,” Simeone told reporters of the departing forward, as cited by Marca.
“I can only say thanks to Antoine for his performance and the growth he has enjoyed here over that period of time.
“I love him very much as a person, I have a great relationship with his family and life has taught me that I cannot judge anyone by their decisions.
“I know from your position in the media that you have to give an opinion and that is normal, but I have learned that you must not judge anyone by what they decide to do.
“You must give everything without expecting anything in return and we are calm because the club and I did everything we could with Antoine.
“He is one of the best goal scorers in our history.”
