Sergio Ramos ruled out until next season

Real Madrid skipper Sergio Ramos will not play again this season after failing to recover from a long standing calf injury in recent weeks.

The 32-year old has been out of action since the start of April, missing the last seven games for Zinedine Zidane's side, and the Frenchman had been hopeful that his captain could play some part in their end of season run in.

The club have confirmed that the injury is being managed internally by their medical staff, and Zidane confirmed that he is unlikely to undergo surgery this summer, but he could be granted additional rest.

Luis Enrique named him in his squad to face the Faroe Islands and Sweden in a EURO 2020 qualification double header at the start of June, however he may yet pull out depending on how his recovery progresses.

Zidane confirmed Ramos' absence from their home game against Real Betis this weekend, with fellow defender Alvaro Odriozola also out until the start of the 2019-20 campaign due to a broken collarbone.
