Barcelona hope on Philippe Coutinho for Copa del Rey final

Barcelona are confident Philippe Coutinho will return from his thigh injury ahead of the Copa del Rey final against Valencia.

A statement from the club stated that the Brazilian is set to be out of action for around 10 days, meaning he should be in contention for the clash on 25 May.

Coutinho picked up the injury in the second half of Sunday’s 2-0 La Liga win over Getafe and is certain to miss the trip to Eibar next week – the club’s final La Liga match of the campaign.

Luis Suarez has already been ruled out of the showpiece game in Seville while Ousmane Dembele is also a doubt for Ernesto Valverde’s side.

“Tests on Coutinho have revealed that the player has pulled the biceps femoris in his left thigh,” read a Barcelona club statement.

“He is expected to be out for around 10 days.”

The Catalan giants signed the former Inter player from Liverpool in January 2018 in a deal worth an initial €120m plus a further €40m in add-ons.

However, Coutinho has struggled in his time in Catalonia and has been linked with a summer move away.
