Ivan Rakitic ‘very happy’ at Barcelona, agent insists

The agent and brother of Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic insists the players is ‘very happy’ despite reported links of a move to Inter.

The Croatian international’s current deal at the Camp Nou runs through until the summer of 2021 although Barca signed midfielders Arturo Vidal and Arthur Melo last summer and have a deal to sign Frenkie De Jong from Ajax this summer.

El Mundo Deportivo reported a €50m move to the Milanese giants this summer was likely despite the Blaugrana rejecting a €90m offer from Paris Saint-Germain the previous summer.

“Today the situation is easy to explain: Rakitic is very happy at Barcelona, Barca are one of the biggest clubs in the world and Ivan is happy to be a part of them,” Dejan told Tuttomercatoweb, as cited by our sister website Football Italia.

“However, I can’t say what his future will be. The season isn’t over yet, there’s still a few games left.

“Ivan wants to focus on the Copa del Rey Final against Valencia and he wants to bring home another trophy.

“He has had a great season and many at Barcelona think so too. As for the match with Liverpool, it was a game for everyone, but that doesn’t take away from the good year Barca had.”

His representative Arturo Canales is reported to have said that the midfielder would not be leaving the club this summer although the Spanish media have cast doubt upon such claims.

Earlier this year, Diario Sport suggested the central midfielder has attracted interest from a number of clubs including Chelsea and Inter but Diario AS highlighted how Coach Ernesto Valverde would sanction any move.

Barca do not want to increase the player’s salary at the club despite rejecting an approach from the Parisians last summer – with Rakitic reportedly claiming he had been promised a salary raise.

Rakitic has won his fourth league title in five years with Barca, whom he joined from Sevilla in the summer of 2014 for a reported €18m.

The Croatian has also won four Copa del Rey titles and the Champions League in that time, scoring 35 goals across 265 appearances.
