Agent Mino Raiola given worldwide FIFA ban

FIFA have confirmed that agent Mino Raiola’s three-month ban from all agent-related activities is now ‘worldwide’.

Raiola’s suspension was initially thought to cover just Italy as it had been handed down by the Italian FA but has now been extended to all nations.

The ban is thought to relate to alleged irregularities in the deal that took Sassuolo striker Gianluca Scamacca to Dutch side PEC Zwolle last summer.

Now, it could impact on summer transfers such as the future of Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba – who has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Mario Balotelli, Lorenzo Insigne and Moise Kean are also among the super-agent’s high-profile clients, along with Ajax captain Matthijs de Ligt – a reported target for Barcelona.

“The Chairman of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee has today decided to extend the sanctions imposed by the Italian Football Association (FIGC) on the intermediaries Carmine [Mino] and Vincenzo Raiola to have worldwide effect,” read a FIFA statement.

“Carmine Raiola is suspended for a period of three months and Vincenzo Raiola for a period of two months.

“The decision of the FIFA Disciplinary Committee was notified today and takes immediate effect.”

It now remains to be seen what effect the 51-year-old’s suspension will have in the transfer market.
