Barcelona move for goalkeeper Wuilker Farinez

Barcelona are trying to sign Venezuela international goalkeeper Wuilker Farinez to replace Jasper Cillessen, report Diario AS.

The 21-year-old has won 12 caps for his nation and is a rising star in South American football, becoming the number one at Colombian giants Millonarios.

He has already won the Superliga title and the Cuadrangular Bogota, while helping his nation to the runners-up spot in the Under-20 World Cup in 2017 – where he went 506 minutes without conceding a goal.

The report claims that the Blaugrana now know Cillessen will leave the club this summer and they require a new shot-stopper to provide competition and back-up for Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.

The Caracas-native has been scouted by the Catalan giants since March and he is said to have made a strong impression during his nation’s 3-1 win over Argentina in a friendly that month.

Boca Juniors and River Plate are also said to be monitoring the goalkeeper and the report adds that Millonarios know a sale is inevitable, while they hold a minimum asking price of €5m.
