Manchester United’s Juan Mata wants Barcelona move

Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata wants to join Barcelona on a free transfer this summer, report Diario Sport.

It is reported that the former Spain international wants a two-year contract at the Camp Nou with the option of a third but the Blaugrana are reluctant to sanction such a length.

The playmaker initially moved to English football in 2011, joining Chelsea from Valencia, before a £37m transfer to Manchester United in January 2014.

“I don't think right now is a good moment to speak about it (my future),” Mata is cited as saying by the Manchester Evening News.

“I prefer to put the team before myself, and what we are going to face now is important enough to be focused only on that.”

The 30-year-old’s deal at Old Trafford expires in the summer and he is available to speak to other clubs.

Mata has netted 45 goals across 264 first-team appearances for the Red Devils and has 10 goals from 41 international caps with Spain.

His compatriot Ander Herrera is also out of contract at United this summer and is reported to have a pre-contract agreement with Paris Saint-Germain.
