Ernesto Valverde: Barcelona not in Champions League final yet

Barcelona boss Ernesto Valverde believes: “It would be a mistake to think that we are already in the (Champions League) final.”

The Blaugrana lead 3-0 in their Champions League semi-final against Liverpool following last week’s first leg victory and are one game away from the showpiece in Madrid.

“The 3-0 score line does not change anything – we are coming as if there was nothing before and with the idea of going out to win,” Valverde told reporters, as cited by El Mundo Deportivo.

“It would be a mistake to go out and not to go out and attack, but we know that this field is very tight and the game must be played to suit the pitch.

“Ousmane Dembele’s absence? This is a problem for sure because he is a player who can create spaces and stretch defences with his speed, his absence will be very significant for us.

“This is a Champions League semi-final and there will be no relaxation here, it would be a mistake to think that we are already in the final, we have to be at the height of the game.”
