Atletico Madrid want Bayer Leverkusen striker Lucas Alario – agent

Atletico Madrid are one of ‘several Spanish clubs’ who want Bayer Leverkusen striker Lucas Alario, according to the player’s agent.

Alario joined Bayer from River Plate in 2017 for a €24m fee but he has failed to settle in Germany and had recently scored just one goal across his 14 appearances – although that did come in a win over Bayern Munich.

However, he has since returned to form and netted three times in his last three, seeing reports of a summer move to La Liga revived by his representative.

“There are several prospects for Alario in Spain, including Atletico Madrid,” Pedro Aldave is cited as saying by El Mundo Deportivo.

“They wanted him when he played at River Plate too.”

The former Colon striker is said to be keen on more regular playing time or the opportunity to join a club of Atleti’s status, said a previous report in TyC Sports.

Alario has won three caps for the Argentina national team and has scored one goal, with suggestions he would adapt with greater ease to a Spanish-speaking nation.
